A Forest Wedding in the Gorenjska Hills, Slovenia

Danaja and Dominik chose a forest clearing in the hills of Gorenjska, Slovenia, for their wedding ceremony — a beautifully intimate setting, full of genuine moments, heartfelt kisses, and plenty of happy tears.

Slovenia’s countryside offers exactly this kind of wedding destination: quiet, green, and untouched, where a ceremony can unfold surrounded by nothing but trees and the sound of the forest itself. For couples drawn to nature rather than a grand venue, a woodland wedding like this one feels honest from the very first moment.

Before the session, the couple told me they were both a little shy in front of the camera and asked if we could keep posing to a minimum. It’s a request I hear often, and one I always take seriously — but as always happens, the initial nerves faded quickly once we got going. Within the first few minutes, Danaja and Dominik relaxed into the moment, and what followed felt completely natural.

After the ceremony, the two of us slipped away into the nearby forest to create a set of quiet, unhurried wedding portraits — just the couple, the trees, and the soft light finding its way through the branches. Away from the guests, these moments tend to feel the most natural, and it shows in the photographs: relaxed, calm, and completely themselves.

A forest wedding proves that a memorable wedding destination doesn’t need to be elaborate — sometimes a clearing in the Gorenjska hills is more than enough to create something a couple will remember for the rest of their lives.
